CommonLine for seniors

Group calls for people who never got a smartphone.

Senior centers, assisted living activity programs and church seniors' ministries all run into the same wall: video calls ask too much. CommonLine is a phone number. Residents and members dial it from the phone they already have, and the organizer takes care of the rest.

How it works

  1. Choose your number. Pick a local US or Canadian number. It stays yours while you're subscribed.
  2. Share it. People save it like any contact. There's no access code to join.
  3. Gather. Callers dial in, and you run the room from your keypad or the web dashboard.

What seniors get

Nothing to learn

No app, no internet connection and no password. If someone can make a phone call, they can join.

The same number every time

Write it on a card by the phone. It stays the same, and there's no code to remember.

The organizer does the work

Mute background noise with *6, lock the room with *7 once everyone has arrived, and mute or remove a disruptive caller from the dashboard.

Notice when someone stops calling Growth and up

See who comes, how often, and who hasn't called in two weeks. When a regular suddenly goes quiet, that's a reason to check in.

No minutes lost to a forgotten phone

If someone is left alone on the line for 20 minutes, they're asked to press pound to stay. Otherwise the call ends, so a phone left off the hook doesn't use up your minutes.

Open hours

Set the times the line takes calls. Outside them, callers hear your closed message, and the line opens and closes on its own.

Recordings Growth and up

Record from the keypad (*8) or the dashboard. Everyone hears that the call is being recorded, and you can download the recording for 7 days before it's deleted.

Reminder texts Coming soon

A text to every member before each gathering, at the time you choose.

How seniors use it

The plan that usually fits

Growth, $99 a month

Growth adds attendance insights, so you notice when someone stops calling, and 5 co-hosts for staff and volunteers.

For example, a 20-minute weekday check-in with 10 residents uses about 4,340 participant-minutes a month. On Growth that's $124.20 a month: $99 for the plan and $25.20 for 840 minutes over, at 3¢ each.

Questions

Do participants need internet access?

No. CommonLine is a phone call, so a landline is all anyone needs.

What if someone forgets to hang up?

If they're the only one left on the line for 20 minutes, they're asked to press pound to stay. Otherwise the call ends.

Can staff run the call without being at a computer?

Yes. The keypad controls work from any phone: *6 mutes everyone and *7 locks the room.
